This year I followed Elise's Challenge to run a mile every day between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. I missed only two days, so this meant that I exercised 38 times.
Some days I ran only a mile. Most days I ran more than a mile. My favorite distance right now is 2.8 miles, which is the length of a familiar running loop near my house. Only once did I run farther, and that was a six mile run in early December.
A few times I counted walking as my #mileaday. On Fridays I have the habit of walking around Greenlake in Seattle, and this distance is 2.8 miles.
Only twice did I count my gym work out. The whole point of #mileaday was to get me OUTSIDE this time of year. One day I took a photo of my feet after spin class….I just didn’t have the energy to whip out an extra mile afterwards. Another day it was RAINING and WINDY and COLD, so I ended up doing three miles on the elliptical trainer and counted that.
Overall this process has been really fun! Other folks on instagram may be tired of my feet photos, but I have had a lot of fun trying to make each one a little different from the last.
I ran in the rain (many times!)
I snow shoed.
I walked in Vancouver, BC.
I took a photo with my favorite tree stump.
I did the Turkey Trot 5k in Spokane (my first #mileaday.)
I ran the jingle bell 5k.
In total, I ran 48 miles and walked 24 miles.
This whole process was super, super fun! I am thankful to Elise for her challenge and inspiration. :)
Here is a link to her mile a day review post that she wrote the other day.
