Hot tea is simply perfect on cold winter days if you ask me. One of our favorite drinks to make is a called a London Fog. A splash of cream and vanilla makes it a little more special than your average cup of tea and it’s pretty simple to make! You should definitely try it! Believe it or not I have both regular Earl Grey and Decaf Earl Grey at home, so I can make one in the evening if I want too. They're just lovely before bed.
Heat up some water in your kettle and get a coffee mug. Fill the mug 3/4 full with hot water and add your Earl Grey tea. Add a splash or two of Half & Half and a splash of Vanilla Syrup, add more if you want it sweeter. Let tea steep for a few minutes, then find a nice blanket to snuggle up under and enjoy!
And bonus! My friend Aileen from At Home In Love, convinced me that I should share my vanilla syrup with you guys. It’s super simple, so it hardly seems like a recipe, but maybe some of you will find it useful!
Vanilla Syrup Recipe
Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar to a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat. Stir until sugar is all dissolved. Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Stir for several more minutes to let the alcohol in the vanilla extract evaporate. Allow to cool slightly before using. Store in a clean container in the fridge, mine seems to last for at least one week when refrigerated.
