Is anyone else out there excited for the big game this weekend? I live in Seattle, and this year it has been AWESOME watching the Seahawks play so well! Maybe I'm a fair weather fan, but I sure do love a team that wins. This project was inspired by our search to find some Seahawks gear for my daughter...and our search was unsuccessful. Somehow all the cute little baby hats and baby onesies were sold out in all the stores we visited.
So I made my own!!
Plain white onesie
Embroidery thread in desired colors
White interfacing (I used lightweight white fabric that I had on hand)
Straight pins, embroidery needle
Pen and paper for sketching
What to do:
Start by sketching your desired pattern and/or words onto plain white paper with easy-to-read ink.
Place your sketch under the front of the onesie and use colored pencil to lightly trace the design. (This won't show, but use similar colors that you will be stitching)
Pin the interfacing/white fabric into place behind where you will stitch. This acts as a stabilizer because if you are using a knit fabric onesie, it won't be strong enough to hold a pretty stitch.
Use a simple backstitch to embroider your design! I just kinda went for it, but I also found this pretty cool tutorial if you need more specific instructions on this part.
This was a super easy project that only took me about an hour. I think I might have caught the onesie-decorating bug! Of course I had to photograph the cutest little model wearing her new shirt!
Lucy and I are ready for the Superbowl! (See that sweet jersey that my hubby bought me this week?) We have plans to watch the game with some close friends who are unfortunately Broncos fans. It should be a fun party, and an awesome game. Go Seahawks! Anyone else have any fun projects or party plans for the Superbowl? If so, I would love to hear about them!
