I was inspired by this awesome project on Pinterest for these candles. As soon as I saw this, I found some candles that I had lying around and got right to work making these cute little 2013 candles. I will bring them over to my sister-in-law's place on Monday night for a little decoration at our New Year's Eve party.
Here is what I used:
After searching through my vast collection of Martha Stewart glitter, I decided on the color "Smoky Quartz." It is a beautiful color, somewhere in between silver and gold. I used four Party-Lite votive candles and some random letter stickers that I had lying around. I love the shape of these letters, but the color is an ugly brown...perfect for using as a mask!
After applying the letter stickers to the candles, I covered them in mod podge and then sprinkled the glitter. I loved using the Martha Stewart tray because it cuts WAY DOWN on the mess. Glitter is quite fun, but it gets everywhere!
When I peeled the stickers off, I needed to remove a little more glitter from under the sticker with a small paint brush. The glitter tends to stick slightly to the texture of the candle, but it was easy to remove. The result is a bit messy and sightly imperfect...but I love it!! I like the way the colors turned out as well.
Thank goodness we had a little sunshine in Seattle today so I was able to get some decent photos. Happy weekend everyone!!
