I did a little experiment today to see which types of pens would work to write on some fabulous washi tape that I got in my Studio Calico kit. Its ombre...and I'm obsessed. I haven't used it on any projects yet, but I have a few in mind! Since this tape is extra wide I thought it would be perfect to write on...that's why this experiment happened. Just thought I would share the results.
American Crafts Photo Marker: This pen worked beautifully and dried in a second! Its one my favorite "thicker" markers to use. I love that it writes on photos and I love it for Project Life.
American Crafts Precision Pen: This is my all time favorite pen. It didn't work well on washi, however. It took awhile to dry and didn't have a smooth finish.
Sharpie Ultra Fine Point: Interestingly, this pen worked really well! Dried super fast and wrote smoothly and looked great.
BIC Mark it: This pen worked well on washi. I love this pen to add a pop of pretty blue teal to my projects.
Regular Gel Pen (Pentec): Didn't work at all. Smears and had to write several times over before it shows up. (I should have guessed this)
Fancy Asian Ultrafine pen: Sadly, this pen would not write on Washi tape. :(
Uniball Signo: My all-time favorite white pen! I am a super fan now because I discovered that it writes on washi tape. You have to take it slow, but it looks great and its permanent.
Micron 03 Pen: My favorite skinny pen. Similarly to the AC Precision pen, it took a long time to dry, so not ideal. I am very impatient. :)
I also thought it would be fun to test out a couple of inks as well, since I had them out.
Memento Dye Ink: Didn't show up well but was more permanent than I thought. I darker color would have worked well.
Stazon: This one is the winner! I pretty much use Stazon for everything now because its really that awesome. It always stamps really wet so I just have to be careful not to smear it. I stamped this one twice and I think both look okay.
I hope you like my little review! I just used some things I had lying around, so I am sure there are many more pens that work. I was pleasantly surprised that so many worked. My favorite was definitely the Sharpie Fine Point and the AC Photo Marker. Now all I have to do is make something pretty! :)
