Earlier in the week I was headed to Bellevue for another mini-moving trip when I decided I "had to" take a detour to the new Cupcake Royale location in downtown Bellevue. I'm been a fan of Cupcake Royale for several years now and actually haven't been since I moved back into town.
As far as cupcake flavors go, my all time favorite still has to be the salted carmel cupcake. I'm not even a big chocolate cake fan, but it is amazing! Knock-your-socks-off kind of good.
The other thing I like to get is their specials. Right now, the Cupcake of the Month is the "Huckleberry Buckle". It's almost coffee cake like with the streusel on top. And the huckleberry frosting was just right, just how you imagine huckleberry frosting should be! Pretty fab, I'd definitely recommend it if you happen to be there before October rolls around!
The new location is actually in an old IHOP building and they have done an amazing job with the place, I was really impressed. And they are fondly calling it the "International House of Cupcakes" to boot.
I loved the mustard yellow doors and the exposed beams inside. And the faux green roof is pretty cool too. Plus they have a bunch of vintage coffee tins for storage (of course I loved that!). The vibe was also just more laid back and chill than some of their other locations. It would be a good spot to sit and catch up with a friend, or to sit and study for a bit.
If you check it out, I'd love to hear if you like it! Or if you have a favorite flavor that I should try next time!
