Photo Friday: Keeping Warm

Brrr!! It sure has gotten chilly this week in Spokane. Which makes 'Keeping Warm' a fitting prompt for this weeks Photo Friday! I've got lots of candles, thick blankets, and fuzzy socks on the agenda for this weekend... and maybe a Peppermint Mocha in a lovely red cup from Starbucks! My photo is of my latest addition to my candle collection, (not like I ever needed more..) this cute sweater weather candle from Bath and Body Works! And my 'you are my sunshine' card from Renae that sits next to it on my kitchen window. So warm and cheery :)

Well, I must admit that I had grand plans for a fancier photo for this week's photo prompt! Then I got my hospital bills in the mail, had a melt down, and completely forgot. Why do they send you so many bills? Then you have no idea when they are going to be over?? Anyway...I know blogging is not for complaining. My photo above is of my little girl!! Keeping warm of course, as her mother takes her out in the bitter cold & rain for a jog. She slept through the whole event and had a smile on her face. Love her. She's worth all the crazy bills, that's for sure. :)

And Renae's - I've been a little under the weather this week, so I've been spending way too much time in bed under the covers staying warm. But I guess thats what happens when you get sick - to be expected. But hopefully I'll be back to myself by this weekend! Here's to hoping...

Photo Friday: Candy

Today's theme is nice and sugary sweet! As a kid, I loved holidays because in my book they equaled candy! Now, I try to be a little more selective about my sweets but once in a while a little treat is still nice. Joe surprised me with some of my favorite Asian candy recently - the grape flavor is my favorite!

Here's Sarah's Picture - Who doesn't love candy!? My hubby's favorite is anything peanut butter + chocolate... So I knew the only way I'd get away with bringing bags of halloween candy home was butterfingers and Reeses. MMM! I better take any remaining candy to work tonight, time to get that stuff out of the house!

And Jenn's picture - It's maybe a strange combination, but I really like it! Candy corn + red hots. Delicious! I also love this cute bowl that I borrowed from Renae to take this photo. Renae has the cutest dishes in the world. :)

Photo Friday: PUMPKINS

Pumpkins sure have found their place in the limelight these last few years! When fall rolls around you can find pumpkin everything these days, not that I'm complaining... I remember the days when the options were limited to pumpkin pies or pumpkin doughnuts. My dad and I used to sit down and devour a whole pumpkin pie - just between the two of us! So needless to say, I have a soft spot for pumpkins, they totally remind me of being a kid. I love how pumpkins are never quite perfect. As kids, I remember searching the field for the "perfect pumpkin". This year, I'm embracing the flat squished ones, I think they're kind of cute!

It's true that this year "pumpkin" is everywhere. I even ate some pumpkin ravioli last night from Trader Joe's, and it was actually delicious. This week I photographed a pumpkin jar that I bought last year at Pottery Barn. I have struggled with what to fill it with. I decided to go with some freshly fallen leaves from outside our condo, I just love the yellow and red combination. It reminds me of my childhood...we used to scavenge the park for pretty leaves and give them to our Mom and she would display them on the dining room table in a big bowl.

What about you guys? Are you pumpkin fans? Does anyone still go to the farm to pick pumpkins out? Anyways, I'm off to make a pumpkin pie! Happy Friday!

Photo Friday: Calm

This Photo Friday prompt is a little more abstract than usual... Calm. Something I'm sure we all need a little more of :) I went on a nice walk with the doggies and a good friend the other day, and these ducks were just so cute. They weren't afraid of us, and swam around looking for goodies under the water right by where we were standing! Its so peaceful to just stand by a lake sometimes and stare at everything, and nothing in particular. Am I right? :)

Here's Jenn's Calm picture: The calmest time in our house is Lucy's afternoon nap! It's the only time I get to relax! Truthfully I usually tend to do some laundry or dishes, but sometimes I do fun stuff...like blogging! :) Oh, and I try to take a little nap as well to make up for those sleepless nights.

(And yes, I know loose blankets are a hazard. It's only a daytime thing, I promise.)

And Renae's - Sometimes you just need to sit and watch the waves, stare at the sand and the rocks and just let life be simple for a while.
