DIY Anniversary Date Pillows

Today my cousin Rachel (Renae's sister) is sharing a little DIY project she's perfected! I arrived home from my honeymoon to a clean house, and an amazing gift, all thanks to Rachel. I just knew she had to share how she made these! Here's what she had to say:

Hi everybody! I am so excited to share my first guest post with you all! Sarah asked me to share how I made these pillows and I am so very privileged to!  

These pillows are a sweet and simple wedding present that I made for Sarah & Nate’s wedding.  I had so much fun making these and believe me – I am no sewing machine maestro. This is an easy project that any beginner can pull off!

Here are the supplies that I used, minus the sewing machine and thread. Buy beige fabric; the one I found has a burlap look to it without the scratchy texture. I found a very simple tutorial here that explains the details.  Cut your fabric to size according to the tutorial. Then trace your design onto the fabric with a pencil. If you don’t look how parts of it first turn out, then just erase and start over.  No harm done! Once you have your penciled design down, fill it in with Sharpie. This is the fun part! Just make sure to have cardboard as a surface underneath to catch any ink bleeds.  Then sew them up and stuff some little pillow forms into them. 

I made these reversible so they can show Mr. & Mrs. on one side or show their two special wedding dates (the intimate family one and the big one) on the other side. I was so excited when I realized I could make them this way!

My original inspiration for these pillows was from here. I just adore her crafty projects and how she decorates her gorgeous home. Before I made these pillows for Sarah and Nate, I made a few pillows of my own to spruce up Mark and I’s bare house as newlyweds. Here are a few pictures of them:

For the pillow in the middle, I got my inspiration from here. These pillows are sitting on our couches now with a few more friends like them.

Here is Mark and my pillow that I made a couple months after getting married. Now our husbands have an easy way to keep track our anniversaries! ;)

Sarah's Wedding: Details

Today I have a few more wedding photos to share. Sarah's wedding took place at a beauitful venue in Greenbluff, Washington. It was perfectly country! I just love all the projects and details that Sarah used to personalize her wedding.

I want to start by sharing the beautiful cakes! Sarah made the small cakes, and Renae and I decorated them. The large cake was done by a professional, but Renae and I also added the flowers. We were considering going into cake-decorating by the end of the evening. :)

Isn't the chevron cake awesome? I just love it. I also love the "messy frosting" look that Renae is so good at. She is truly a talented gal. :)

Next, I have some photos of the reception table. Instead of a guest book, Sarah displayed an illustrated tree for people to leave their fingerprints and sign their names. Apparently this is a huge wedding trend right now, but this is the first I have seen it. I think its a fabulous idea!

Here are a couple more detail shots from the reception area. I love that Sarah did her own flowers and loved even more that they decided to display a few in these personalized mugs. It's perfect since Sarah and Nathan love coffee!!

You can't really blog about a wedding and not include at least one photo of the bride and groom, so here it is! Its an over the head photo of them feeding each other cake. I'm glad they did a little bit of cake smashing in the face...that always makes it so fun.

I had such a blast at this wedding, and taking photos made it even more fun. I am excited to see the "real" photos from the photographer. I am sure they will be amazing. Sarah's Wedding: Candy Table

This past Saturday was Sarah's wedding! As you are reading this, she is vacationing in Mexico...lucky girl! The wedding was spectacular, and even though it was a little hot, the weather was beautiful. I look forward to sharing a few photos that I took at the wedding. These aren't the official "professional" photos, and I am sure Sarah will share some of those as soon as she gets those.

Today I wanted to highlight Sarah's candy bar. You may have seen a few sneak peaks of this as Sarah shared her wedding progress, but here it is all finished!

I am not sure how she found so many purple candies, but there were quite the variety! I loved the purple and white lollipops the best. Sarah used lots of different clear glass jars and dressed them up with burlap and twine. She used the same materials to make an adorable banner.

I am glad that I got the chance to take some photos before the wedding, because immediately afterward this table was surrounded by little children. It was a big hit, that's for sure!

Crazy Summer Weekend

Wedding Business...

Only 10 days to go until the big day! Eek! I can't wait! Today I'm sharing a couple wedding sneak peeks. Nate and I have been hard at work turning our (well, my) DIY wedding dreams into a reality! I can't wait for it all to come together. SO excited!

The house is a disaster! We need another whole room just for wedding things! Nathan keeps saying he can't wait until its over so it will be clean and organized around here again!
